Research Transcriptions…
is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business that is 100% based in the United States…
that is oftentimes referred to as “RTC” for short, as in (the) “Research Transcriptions Company.”
The company was formed specifically to deliver accurate, human transcription for professionals with important qualitative research that must be typed accurately. Meet founder, Rob Foley

What we do
We provide confidential transcription service for qualitative research. Data security and Top Quality Transcription (TQT) are the hallmarks of our service.
Fields of expertise include:
How we do it
We avoid the wasted time, unpredictable quality and confidentiality risks associated with the use of a global freelance transcription websites, where workers are scattered around the world, beyond the reach of US data privacy laws.
We do not take shortcuts with speech recognition programs driven by artificial intelligence (AI). Our work is 100% human transcription.
All English transcription is performed by US-based teams of Certified Research Transcriptionists (CRTs) who are trained and certified in:
- HIPAA compliant transcription
- Protecting Human Subject Research Participants
- Top Quality Transcription (TQT)
- Security Awareness
Our foreign language transcription services cover 37 additional languages, where work is performed in the country native to the recorded language (confidentiality cannot be assured).
For clients seeking maximum data security, we offer a SOC 2 compliant option as well.
Why it matters
With our US-based teams of specialists, you will spend less time proofing and be better able to identify meaningful insights across uniformly formatted transcription reports for deeper analysis.
Unlike general transcription websites, we offer a variety of default formatting options to support qualitative research analysis, for no additional fee. Examples of our free add-ons include:
- time stamps
- speaker identification
- anonymization / de-identification
- line numbering
- … more
And you won’t have to take chances with the confidentiality of your data. With Research Transcriptions, you’ll have the confidence of knowing that your research will be in safe hands, protected by US law from start to finish.
For organizations with high-volume workflows, we offer a single or multi-year Master Services Agreement (with service levels) that helps reduce administrative overhead. The benefits of working with our MSA include:
- work prioritization
- a dedicated engagement manager
- defined service levels
- volume pricing
- simplified monthly invoicing
- detailed job receipts
- direct access to company founder/CEO, Rob Foley

Who our service is for
Our service is best suited for professionals who value quality and confidentiality. They understand that achieving Top Quality Transcription requires hiring top transcriptionists – who are paid more than what global freelance transcription websites offer.
Our clients require the accuracy that can only come from human transcription. And they understand that maintaining confidentiality costs money too.
The right client for our service is the one who wants to talk with us before getting started. They are looking for a partner, not a shopping cart style of service. They want to know who they will be dealing with.

Our Story
We started out in 2003 as Same Day Transcriptions, a medical transcription company founded by Service Disabled Veteran, Rob Foley and his wife, Anne.
Rob and Anne began with the advantages of a convenient bedroom office, two vocal and supportive – albeit hungry – little mouths to feed, deep prayer and sheer determination (and the assurance by a former partner that they would never make it… more on him later).
The tiny seed of an idea sprouted and grew into a real business(!).
By 2008, we saw the shift to electronic medical records in healthcare coming on fast.
We knew we had to change strategy.
With a staff trained in HIPAA transcription, medical terminology and disease states, the transition from being a medical transcription company to transcribing medical research interviews came naturally.
Through our work for organizations like the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and a growing list of universities, requests for transcription in health and social sciences increased.
In June, 2022, we changed our name to Research Transcriptions.
Research Transcriptions serves clients of all sizes, from large corporate to solopreneurs, academic professors, students and more.
And as for that guy back in 2003 who doubted the company would make it?
Thanks, Steve.
Our mission
Our mission is to help people who perform qualitative research make a difference with their work. To be part of the solution.
Every day, we get to talk with people whose own personal mission is to do something great. To make our world better. The trust they place in us to help them do so is simultaneously gratifying and humbling.
Whether it’s working with a pharmaceutical company seeking a patent extension, helping a marketing firm gain valuable customer insights or supporting research to help our military veterans, we are privileged to be entrusted with work that matters so greatly.
Our causes
As a VA-verified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, we are passionate about supporting US troops, both active-duty and retired, especially the service disabled. We are also strong advocates for all first responder units as well as organizations whose mission is to help children in need.
Recently and ongoing, we:
-
- Lend ongoing support to Habitat for Humanity.
- Partner with numerous nonprofit organizations to document memoirs of WWII veterans.
- Support first-responder units.
- Are active supporters of numerous non-profit organizations that aim to support our military brethren.
Please help us support those who protect our country.
